And how is Alabama any different?In very rough terms... When buying Workers Comp insurance you pay a rate based on your payroll and the type of business you have. The rates vary by state based on the different benefit levels in the states and the underlying medical costs in the particular state. In Alabama, the rate for a certain type of firm might be as low as 1/2 that of the rate in New York. When you combine the lower rate with the lower payroll costs in a state like Alabama, you could be looking at a reduction in Workers Comp costs of 60%. |
