For a dog or cat the question of food being kosher is moot. They neither have the intellect or awareness to care. After all, the laws governing Kosher food have their roots in reasons of health and religeon - neither of which can animals appreciate. Now, as for the pet owner, if they keep a Kosher home, they may opt for kosher food for their pets only to keep their dishes and utinsils from coming in contact with non-kosher foods. Of course since the liklihood of commercially available kosher pet food is nill, if one were to prefer to that option, they'd likely need to prepare it themselves. |
