If they were better off, then explain why the country would fall apart after we leave...and terrorists would be the leasts of their worries. Cultural infighting would be my biggest concern.As for drilling, we don't need to drill. In fact, I agree with Bloomberg in that fuel prices are way too low by about 2 dollars at least. When people learn to adjust their lives, it will be hard for a few years, but it will be better in the long run for everyone. People will then think about what they absolutely need oil for. It isn't so much opposition to drilling as it is the fact that the USA needlessly wastes so much fuel. Also, there are easier to access areas with oil than ANWR, such as possibly the Southern Tier in western New York, which would be a LOT cheaper. |
