First time I went through Charlotte on September 14, 2001, we stopped off at a restaurant the "day after" on our way to my wife's dad's funeral. He died on September 13. The owner of the restaurant saw our "New York" plates on the car and wanted to know where we were from since he didn't recognize our accents. We said, "upstate New York." Fucker said, "welcome to America." :(So ... no thanks. No offense. If crackers like him and some of the others here are "America" then I'll break into a chorus of "Oh Canada" like most of the rest of us "up here." The "Capital district" is much like NYC once was ... Sikhs, Hindi, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhists and others all living in relative peace and harmony. We're neighbors, friends, and we look OUT for one another. And if someone decides to get stupid, we have the RIGHT to take them out with impunity so long as we drag the carcass across the threshold before calling the sheriff. Me like! :) |
