Man oh man you're obviously having fun. OK, truth time for y'all ... Cuomo killed the NY-SCAN channel. All of the "TV people" were fired except for ME and one other engineer. We were transferred to the agency's "Telecommunications division" as laterals to compensate for a hiring freeze and nobody left to go out and shoot errant cable operators statewide.Paturkey then killed the ENTIRE AGENCY! I, and about 35 other people ended up being hired by the Department of Public Service (NYPSC) and those of us in the telecommunications division went into PSC's Telecommunications division where I did what I did at the Cable Commission sometimes but spent most of my time working on deploying fiber optic and DSL technology for both NYNEX as well as the cable industry, plus research on that Intarwebs thing ... I RESIGNED from the PSC two years later because I got tired of working in a bureaucracy and being bored out of my teat attending meetings with idiots and twiddling my thumbs all day trying to create my own "make work." Went and started a software company. At NO time was I "pushed out" and even to this *DAY* they want me to come back. At the KT Tunstall concert a month or two ago, ran into my former supervisor who is now the agency's Chief Telecommunications Officer (uberwig) and once again, I was begged to come back there to deal with Verizon and their (cough) FiOS mess. I said no thanks because that'd be a 60% pay cut. So if yer gonna be snarky about it (and you did) I'm making over 6 figures now. Are YOU? I at least have the skills to not have to suck that taxpayer teat. Can YOU? :) |
