I'm using an old style rabbit ear vhf/uhf antenna so I can't complain about my spotty reception. QAM is the digital cable standard. But a few cable systens are also sending out the ATSC signals, maybe just as a courtesy to subscribers or by local mandate. Time Warner Cable told me that they are only sending out QAM over their cable. They also said that they will stop broadcasting analog cable in February 2009. I thought they were required to continue analog cable broadcasting until 2012.
