You know what's sick about all these United Nations divisions' abbreviations? They are reminiscent of Newspeak contractions in "1984" (e.g. Minitrue for Ministry of Truth, Miniluv for Ministry of Love — and that goes back to words like Gestapo for Geheime Staatspolizei; also noteworthy is Interpol, originally an Austrian organization, that the Nazis controlled during WWII). So is it surprising that they would have an antisemitic bent? |
