Posted by Orange Blossom Special on Tue Jun 24 23:27:39 2008 Major points. She works at the airport, and in the gift shop, in england, writes songs(harim) praising OBL and had several handbooks. Is this irony, wrong, okey or what? An airport worker who wrote poems about beheadings and dubbed herself a 'lyrical terrorist' had her conviction for terrorist crimes quashed yesterday. Samina Malik was the first woman to be convicted under the Terrorism Act after she was found guilty of collecting information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism. The 24-year-old's successful appeal is another severe blow to the government's anti-terror legislation. Earlier this year five Muslims had their convictions quashed after the Appeal Court ruled that possessing Islamist videos and downloading jihadi propaganda did not constitute terrorist offences. Malik's case was one reviewed after the hearing. She wrote extremist poems praising Osama Bin Laden on the back of till receipts while working at W H Smith at Heathrow Airport, and possessed a number of documents related to terrorism including the al Qaida Manual, the Terrorist's Handbook and the Mujahideen Poisons Handbook. ..... The result is that some of the 21 documents we relied on in Ms Malik's trial would no longer be held capable of giving practical assistance to terrorists. 'However, other documents in her possession, including the al Qaida Manual, the Terrorist's Handbook, the Mujahideen Poisons Handbook and several military manuals, clearly retain that potential. We therefore have no doubt that it was right to bring this prosecution.' Last night an Islamic group urged the Government to re-examine the 'bad and illiberal' law under which Malik was convicted. Muslim Council of Britain spokesman Inayat Bunglawala said today: 'If the police genuinely believed that Samina Malik constituted a threat to society than they should have placed her under surveillance and waited until they had uncovered some actual terror-related activities.' Malik was a member of an extremist group linked to Omar Bakri Mohammed, a hate preacher who fled to Lebanon from Britain three years ago. She had a profile on the social networking website Hi-5, where she called for the execution of 'depraved' Westerners. . The British-born Muslim listed her interests as helping the Mujahideen 'in any way I can'. In one poem, called The Living Martyrs, she called for Muslims to rise up against the infidels. In another, How To Behead, she warned that the victim should be bound and blindfolded. --- I hope she's not working in the airport. But I've seen so many uk airport stories, I recall seeing worse. Like hijackers working on planes. |
