"And if civil war breaks out on a large scale, who is going to go in to keep the peace?" Nobody. We let the bloodbath happen; it's happened before (recall the Baath Party takeover in the 1950s) and rgis time will be no different. They will sort things out for themselves in the process and we'll get back to some kind of equilibrium. If the Iraqis don't want to spill a lot of blood, they'll figure out a way to work it out. If they don't, the wor;d's over-populated anyway. We can retain some forces in the Kurdish area, so the fighting is limited to the Sunni Center and Shiite south. |
