When you're running for the job of U.S. President, you probably want to do your homework about a region that's a hot debate come election time. McCain will probably benefit from some coaching from President Bush. The other candidates won't have the same opportunity so they have to research their own info. AFAIK it's not illegal to travel to Syria nor is it to meet with Syrian officials (your incorrect understanding of the Logan Act noted). It tugs at AIPAC heartstrings, however, so it's big news.You're also quoting an editorial piece. It's not the last word on this. your pal, Fred |
