#1: I'd consider it a stretch. She's a parrot repeating whatever bush says. Should it have been a parakeet or a cat instead? I always liked that one particular cartoonist. But a parrot has a beak, and it's a caracature(sp). Of course it's going to exaggerate features. Mine would have a huge nose if i was in the comic, and then it would be considered racists? Probably not. I don't think the comic would've worked if we put the face of an Irish girl on the parrot instead.

#4: I'm reading it. And I would expect someone would draw a non-existant connotation about Dr. Rice and monkeys in the same story. Except it clearly states Dr. Rice trains bush, and not vice versa, therefore, just not seeing it. Monkey see monkey do. And people get way too upset about the monkey word, even when there's no indication of a Black person being around for 30 miles of it.

Doonesbury probably did taunt my background before, possibly in 2000 or 99, but I dont' remember. I don't get offended by satire usually. But then again, are these the same people who were offended when they ran a strip with just the names of our fallen? Or the same congomerate who censored one of the nightly news cast from doing the same and going to a different show?
Though that's starting to go off in another direction now. But I always liked Doonesbury, it's just very topical for the day.

#3: I can still see that being in bad taste. Especially since she's a Doctor too. But I could probably make a connection of her father being a cotton farmer and that whole story if i wanted to stretch this in the opposite direction.

The other three, I'm just not seeing it. Then again, I'm not a big fan of PCness.
