Coal's getting a bad rap from the "global warming" alarmists. Any claims they make are suspect at best. Nitrates, sulfur dioxide and particulates are quite easily controlled. We used to burn lots more coal than we do at present—and we still survived; perhaps we were stronger.And if you're still scared of coal, there are derivatives like coke, and the fuels from gasification and liquefaction. BTUs are far better than from a lot of oil-based fuels. We could be energy self-sufficient within a few years. |
