Neomycin allergy is fairly common, and with additional exposure to it, your reactions would have been destined to get worse. I'm glad your case was diagnosed properly.

In general, when you put any medicated cream/ointment/gel on your body, you use a thin layer (the smallest application which will be effective). This is true of steroids also, as over-application of steroids over an extended period of time can cause thinning of skin and other bad side effects. If you get a rash or allergic reaction, STOP and call your doctor.
