It's a solution in search of a problem that nevertheless placates people.It also hurts people. Huge numbers of people with US birth certificates will need to prove their citizenship. Significant numbers could be wrongfully denied citizenship, say if the father was a permanent resident but walked out on the family when the kid was young. And by the way, do you want to deny citizenship to the children of people who are legally in the country for more than a time-limited visit by authority of an Act of Congress but not permanent residents? There are lots of such people. |
