You're the one who's calling immigrant labor "slavery." They're not the same thing. They're free not to come here or to leave and they can take other jobs.Besides, the alternative to cheap labor isn't expensive labor, it's either automation or offshoring. So if you really thought that immigrants are taking rrr jrbs and that's why we should curtail immigration, it really wouldn't achieve what you want it to achieve. Automation would eliminate the jobs entirely, but it would still increase costs because if it were cheaper than the current low wage labor, it would have already happened. Offshoring would be even worse. The alternative to immigrants picking vegetables isn't Americans picking vegetables, it's them picking vegetables in other countries. |
