"Were the nuns mean to you?"Absolutely. I caught more beatings from those nuns at St Sebastian's school than I ever got on the street. If those nuns or even lay teachers as non nuns were called back then, did to the kids now what they did then, they'd be locked up. And after they whacked you around, they'd say now don't tell your parents or you'll be punished again worse for being bad. Years later I told my mom about the "punishment" I got from the nuns (Sr Alma DeLourdes) and she said "If I would have known that, I would have gone down there and beat the hell out of that bead-rubbing dyke" God bless motherhood! But that was yesterday, and yesterday's gone... thankfully. |
