As most small shops, this one had a supt. and deputies. I was assigned to the inspection line. As the 3 other managers were hispanic who were referred to as the 3 amigos. I was an outsider and they wanted someone else instead if me. They did their best to make me feel unwelcome including holding meetings where they spike only spanish. Eventually wird got back to the assistant chief and i was moved and promoted. I heard that the shop i came from was hit by covid. Two of the 3 amigos eventually succumbed to the disease leaving 2 vacancies. Happy ending but Sadly even after 20 years the 3rd amigo is still alive as far as i know. |
