Not speaking for Spider-Pig but people unknown to you are basically allowed to hang out directly in front of your house and/or store their personal stuff there, all because a car is involved. You also have little to no say about what they're doing in the car. If the spot in front of your house was empty and someone just came along and sat down on the street there all day, smoking whatever and with hundreds of pounds of mysterious baggage surrounding them, and left that stuff lying around from time to time, would this be ok? (Bonus points for bumper stickers advertising stuff you don't like taped down to the street).From an experiential standpoint, there's a reason why the first step to a block party is getting rid of the cars, and there's a reason why some neighborhoods just straight out ban street parking for their summer (or at least peak) times. |
