I went to a D1 a school and was a club player which morphed into semi pro and men’s leagues after college.I pitched and played right field and occasionally first. Emergency catcher as well. Never once fathomed taking steroids. I liked to jog and do pushups, sit-ups, and leg lifts. I would have done planks back then if I knew about them. And I threw the baseball quite a bit. A great deal of long tossing and I loved to shag flyballs to keep my wind and stay sharp. I never ran a 60 yard dash. Running speed was always slow and hindered me a great deal. There are 5 tools in baseball and I had 2. I could hit for power and throw. I was a fair fielder, could hit but was too streaky, and I couldn’t run. 2 for 5 then. Not good odds. I have no regrets. Baseball was great for me just like Garrett Morris said on SNL years ago. |
