I've had my work life made more difficult by DEI hires who weren't really qualified for their position. But I've also had my work life screwed up by people who weren't really qualified for their position because: - Their Asian parents pushed them to work like crazy through college, so they got engineering or science degrees from reputable universities, but they weren't actually smart enough to do the job that they managed to get hired for as a result of their degree. - They were white males with very pleasant personalities who always got along with everyone, but again weren't actually smart enough to do the job that they managed to get hired for as a result of being such easy-to-get-along-with people. Of those three categories, my most miserable experiences have been in the second category. But I also have a whole bunch of bad memories from the friendly white male category. The DEI category comes in third. And of course I've large numbers of very good experiences with possible DEI hires, hard working Asians, and friendly white males. And in terms of competent people who were just plain nasty, those have nearly all been white males. Fortunately not too many of those. |
