The very notion of seizing the grocery stores does mark Mamdani as communistic, or at least socialistic.

Very few look up the definition of national socialism (Nazism), never mind either socialism per se or communism.

Communism is impossible because it's a theoretical stateless society with no families, no private property, no national borders and no religion. Socialism is merely communism with the authoritarian one-party state, which communists claim will "wither away" and leave communism as described above in its place; they never mention that all-powerful authoritarian one-party states consolidate power and instead perpetuate themselves, i.e. the opposite of withering away.
