I suppose Jews can support the Dimwitorats if that's their choice, but for the life of me for these people to insist that that party is still the best hope for support for the Jewish Americans is beyond pathetic. The current Republican Party has little in common with Jewish values. The same cannot be said about the Democrats. This isn't to say that the Republicans have nothing in common or that the DNC is entirely in lockstep with Jewish values, but this is the reality. For example, banning abortion after the detection of a fetal heartbeat is directly in conflict with Jewish law, which requires abortion to save the life of the mother at all times. A fetus is not a person in Jewish law and is not afforded the "benefits" of "personhood" until after birth. They have no memory or don't care to remember how so many Jews in Europe in the 1930's saw this as passing phase. Yes they do. It is why many Democratic Jews are obtaining dual citizenship so that if shit hits the fan, they have somewhere to go. Here is one take no why Jews vote Democratic, and here is another. There are plenty others out there. But perhaps most importantly from that second link, there is this paragraph: "For all the legitimate fears aroused by violent anti-Israel protests over the last 10 months, let’s remember that the bloodiest days for Jews in America were at the hands of the far right, not the far left. The deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history was perpetrated at a Pittsburgh synagogue in 2018 by a white nationalist who believed in the far-right “great replacement” conspiracy theory that Jews are working to flood the country with illegal immigrants. The previous year, neo-Nazi Trump supporters marched through Charlottesville, Va., chanting, “Jews will not replace us.” Then-President Trump insisted that some of them were “very fine people.”" |
