SS was never meant for "economic security", it was meant (on paper) to supplement an individuals income in addition to whatever income/savings/investments that someone had. However many did not have any of the above and relied on SS to this day basically for survival.I guess the same applies to Railroad Retirement. I put in 38 years with the railroad(s) and in the beginning of each month I get a healthy direct deposit thanks to all my contributions. That makes my living conditions more comfortable. And if DJT eliminates income taxes on that in addition to dropping $5K in my lap from spending cuts, I might go out and buy a Maga Hat! |
