And I’m not lumping them all together or calling them equal. But this idea that them place would have been a pile of dust by now isn’t fair either.There will always be a rivalry in NY with whatever teams are here. The Yankees couldn’t be playing in a 50 year old stadium and the Mets have modern Shea. It has as much to do with keeping up with the Joneses as anything. When that place in Baltimore opened I’m sure it put the Steinbrenner into full replacement mode. It took 14 years to break ground but he accomplished his goal. And if you think post 1976 YS was uneconomic what do you suppose Fenway and Wrigley are? |
