My go-to in Starbucks when I just want no-frills coffee is "Tall Dark Roast."If you want to avoid strange looks, definitely use their vocabulary for the size ("Tall, Grande. . .") and roast/blend. I don't think it's as uncommon as it may seem for someone to just want coffee and not one of the specialty products. But they may roll their eyes if you just ask "Can I get black coffee?" Side note: Dark Roast is often offered on the displays but very often they tell you it's not available. |
