Posted by Train Dude on Wed May 31 17:22:15 2023 Vernon Downs, a casino, hotel and race track has announced 3200 layoffs starting later this summer. By December all 3200 employees will be out of work. Why? Governor Cuomo had given t h e casino a $22 tax break to help the hotel meet its payroll. Governor Hoople has announced t h at she b will end the subsidy. Bad news for the people upstate. Bad news for the state which received $86 million in revenues. Also Bad news for the state who will now pay unemployment for for the 3200 employees thrown out of work. |
