To an extreme, I'd agree.

I take precautionary measures with my car, by sticking to scheduled maintenance, and checking tire pressure, and oil level on occasion. Obviously, it's no guarantee, but it lessens the chance of breakdown etc. I definitely wouldn't say this is panic.
