"overflowing gas is human error a hundred percent of the time"Wrong! You have no idea what you are talking about. Ive been a shift mgr at a gas station at Coney Island & 18th in Bklyn for 3 years back in the early 70s. It is rare but it happens. The little sensor at the tip of the nozzle that shuts of the gas flow is pressure sensitive. If the flow of gas slows down for any reason, like many cars filling up at the same time or the stations tanks are running low & the pressure slows down, nozzles might not shut off. Ive seen that happen from time to time. What shuts off the gas is the steady pressure backflow from the tank under pressure that triggers the nozzle to shut off the flow. No "human error" involved here whatsoever. |
