that question (whether my mom would have been happy with "four babies") assumes that my mom was either ignorant or weak willed.

look, dude...she was extremely neither.

mom used to take two or three or more of us kids to the museum of natural history frequently. by trains from central islip. i think i would have to search long and diligently to try to find a mom willing to do anything even close to that nowadays.

here's the thing: mom and pop loved each other and mom and pop loved us kids.
