Everyone keeps bringing this up, but it’s completely not analogous. First, Kennedy didn’t need Illinois. He had 276 electoral votes without it, 269 being sufficient. Second, Nixon conceded when it was clear he lost. Trump didn’t.2. I don’t see what that (Ford/Nixon) has to do with anything. 3. Except that Clinton conceded the election. No one claimed that Clinton actually won and that the Russians stole it for her, the claim was always that Russian misinformation convinced enough voters to not vote for her. But ultimately no one claimed that the vote counts themselves were illegitimate, which is what counts. The loser used to concede the election, now he just claims that the election was stolen and tries to use various tactics to overthrow an unwanted outcome. In 2020, his party didn’t play ball, in 2024, they will. |
