I disagree. 1960s USA was not ready for a black president. They barely tolerated a Roman Catholic. As far as scandals go, If there weren't any , some would have been made up.I remember on I-95 outside of Baltimore there was a big billboard of a guy in a white sheet holding a sword & wearing a pointed cap on horseback advertising the KKK. It read "Join the Klan Today...fight integration and communism" That the way it was in 1970. |
