It looks like this variant predated Omicron from the articleHere's a link to the source document. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.12.24.21268174v1.full.pdf IHU was detected from mid November, according to the article. This places it in the same time frame as Omicron. Whether or not Omicron will prevent IHU's spread depends on which is more prevalent in a particular locale. At present, Omicron far exceeds IHU's 12 recorded cases near Marseilles. There's still the question as to whether an Omicron infection will offer immunity against IHU. |
