Posted by ntrainride on Fri Dec 3 20:54:29 2021, in response to Re: Mr. Anthony Fauci, posted by Jeff Rosen on Thu Feb 25 08:34:45 2021. damn. i missed this. okay, i'll simply respond like it hasn't been nine months since you posted it.yes, railfan. rode the brighton "many" hundreds of times. but i'll explain myself. in brooklyn, i feel that taking a surface transit service that connects with a rail line can be considered railfanning. most brooklyn bus routes...or many of them...used to be streetcar lines, so while it's a bit of a stretch, yeah, a railfan can do it. that bus roughly parallels the brighton line. with brooklyn's grid pattern street design bus rides feel trolley-like anyway. and it connects with a remnant rail transit anomaly: the lirr nostrand avenue elevated station. it's a true elevated station, not on an embankment. it's a secondary non-terminal in-city commuter rail connection. i know we have a bunch of those but they're basically extinct anywhere else. maybe chicago, boston and philadelphia have similar stations but i'll bet none of them look like nostrand. i digress. but i stand by this. if you take a bus that gets you to a train...the bus portion is "railfanning". |
