The scandals that got him fired were about women.I was pointing out that it wasn't only his behavior toward women that made him a bad governor. Even disregarding his behavior toward women, he wouldn't have been a good candidate. Had the allegations been raised during an election against a Republican, Cuomo would have been mostly supported. Maybe true, maybe not, but mostly irrelevant in any case. NY is like CA. The general election is relatively unimportant. It's the primary election that mostly counts. The only time frame where the Republican matters at all is from June to November of election years. If the allegation had come out and been instantly proved on 7/1/2022, you might be right that Cuomo could still have been supported by many Democrats against Andrew Giuliani. But against Lee Zeldin,who is incredibly more likely to be the candidate, he might have lost. I'm also guessing in that case a Democrat would run as an independent and have had a very good chance of winning. |
