Covid aside, low Vitamin D levels are a risk factor for a myriad of conditions. Since we are usually clothed outside, and often use sunscreens, the natural process for the body to produce vitamin d is often diminished. Having levels checked as part of the labs in an annual physical is not a big deal, and supplementation is neither difficult or expensive. Your doctor can make a recommendation for what is appropriate for you, there is a general consensus that many of us are low, but just how much supplementation and to achieve what levels are a bit fuzzier.
