On the contrary, those municipal entities are driven by capitalism. If you doubt that then explain why the 2nd avenue subway, begun in 1949, has yet to reach 125th st. While the East Side Access, the electrification of the Ronkonkoma branch and the 3rd main line track have gotten done in less than 10 years. Because bringing people to midtown serves corporate interests while subway to 125th st serves the proles. |
