The bottom line is this: If the police want to pull you over, you get pulled over, period, tree on the mirror or not. When cross questioned as to why, the standard answer is that they thought the driver was weaving when he/she wasn't.This, as "unscruplous" (unfair?) as this may seem, its done more often than you think. The silver lining to this "enforcement" is it catches many DWI offenders that normally wouldn't be caught. Since most folks who drink and drive never get caught, this pull over the "weaver", especially if its 2 in the morning & a group of kids are riding, this profiling is quite common, especially in eastern LI. in the summertime. Traffic violation $$$ is written into those township's budgets. |
