If you add Nassau and Suffolk, I remember Roosevelt as a kid, and Parr Meadows in Yaphank/Shirley.My dad like horse racing, so as a kid I went to them a few time Roosevelt was harness Racing, and Parr Meadows was Quarter horse. They are currently redeveloping the Par Meadows site, it has been closed since the 90s. Roosevelt as we all know was redeveloped in the 90s Horse racing is slowly dying. It's a relic from a time when it was the only legal gambling. Now there are casinos everywhere, lottery,cans so forth. |
