Just because a hacker hasn't abused it in the past doesn't mean someone can't abuse it in the future.Have you read the NY Times articles about monitoring people's entire lives by analyzing supposedly anonymized massive quantities of cell phone data? Further, people doing sneaky things with my data have cost me significant amounts of my time.* So it's quite unsurprising that I am setting the criteria for revealing data higher than others who haven't been through that. * The most delightful experience was demonstrating to the Social Security Administration that I was not in fact applying to commence my retirement benefit. |
