If someone is an asymptomatic or pre symptomatic spreader, getting them out of circulation as well as contact tracing loses value as time to find out gets too long. The center I use does a rapid and a regular at the same sitting, half hour for prelim, final is usually less than 2 days (longest I ever had was just under 3 right after Christmas, when testing went crazy). The city built a new lab just to do Covid tests, it runs around 30K a day which was a huge addition to capacity, private labs have been crazy busy, turn around has been an issue at times, but regular is considered more accurate than rapid. Even if you get rapid, back it up with regular whenever possible. |
