Given that flying is a privilege, preventing people who are known or suspected terrorists is a generally prudent precaution. The issue I have with "no fly" lists is that they can be used in an arbitrary and capricious manner, and the people placed on such restrictions aren't able to ascertain why they have been so restricted, or what, if any, appeals process there is for getting their flying privileges restored. It is possible to end up on a no-fly list because you pissed off the wrong politician, or even the wrong flight crew.That said, anyone who took part in the attempted coup at the Capitol, is by definition a terrorist, and the government is within its rights to keep them off the same airplanes you and I might wish to travel aboard. |
