It was co-opted (stolen), an existing pagan holiday which was arbitrarily stamped with a Christian label with the expressed purpose of forcing the new faith on the Roman masses while eradicating the old pagan beliefs. I can think of no holiday manufactured from absolutley nothing as Kwanzaa was/is. |
