What I don't get is why did he get involved with Trump in the first place? His legacy and place in history is pretty much cemented inasmuch as his turning around NYC and reducing crime and improving the quality of life for city residents during his tenure as mayor. Having the city do a 180 after the mess that Dinkins left him was no easy task.Then there was 9/11. His accomplishments in bringing the city back & keeping it together are known worldwide to the degree that earned him the "America's Mayor" knickname. Now, he's turned into a caricature of himself & coming off as unhinged & desperate in trying to save Trump's job. He just should have retired, made some speeches, write a few more books, keep his radio show & enjoy his remaining years. But no. Thats not his way. Regardless, I hope he recovers. IMO history will judge him as a good decent man who just didn't know when to get off the stage. |
