No, not the Democratic elite, the wealthy uptown elite; the silk stocking crowd. Those are both Republicans and Democrats. The largest donations to BOTH parties come from 10021.And New York has closed primaries, so only Republicans can vote in Republican primaries. In 2016, Trump lost just one county, New York, and just one Congressional district, the 12th, his own. That Congressional district, with a different number, last elected a Republican in 1990. Trump was already pretending to be elite for decades by then. |
