I wrote in Evan McMullin last time. I am still undecided what I am going to do in 2020 including not voting for anyone. I greatly dislike the direction that the Democratic party has gone. That being said, I am not a fan of Donald Trump even if he has done some things that I have agreed with, including properly recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. I do not trust that if Donald Trump was faced with a threat of doing something that is good for the United States, but would hurt his personal business interests, that he would side with the United States. The President is a fiduciary of the citizens. I have been disappointed with his Judicial nominees as, despite their protesting to the contrary, are not originalist. They have a particular outcome they wish to reach and will twist any precedent to reach that outcome regardless of the text of the Constitution. This is the same reason why I hated the nomination of Justice Sotomayor. A good Judge will be able to look me in the eye and be candid about a decision that they personally disagree with the outcome, but are compelled to rule that way because of the plain text of the Constitution. I do not see that with many of Trump's nominees. |
