The only nearly erotic part of it is when he describes his explorations with a 14-year-old [IIRC] when he was the same age. He's disappointed and she dies [disease, not him] and that breaks his heart. But even in that Nabokov puts in barely-masked satire. The girl's name is Annabelle Leigh. And she lived by the sea. Get it? |
