I agree on your first sentence.

The second sentence is actually NYC: People flock to NYC-area bars, beaches as ‘quarantine fatigue’ intensifies

The politically active Republicans / Trump supporters are protesting the lockdowns. The politically active Dems are protesting the protesters via news articles and Twitter. The people who don't care aren't protesting, they are doing whatever they want, and this attitude is bipartisan.
