None of you are 100% right, though I think you and Fisk are far more correct than JayZ.The Post article is sloppy. It confuses square feet and cubic feet, among other things. It's all a matter of probabilities. The more micrograms of virus you inhale, the more likely you are to get infected. The farther you are from another person, the fewer micrograms of their exhalation you will breathe in. So the more feet you are away from an infected person, the less likely you are to get infected. If you are far enough away, you might as well call the probability zero, but it isn't really truly zero. It's just incredibly small. I would agree with you and Fisk that the danger is mostly indoors. But I'm not about to go stand in an outdoor crowd. There may even be concrete evidence that some of the outdoor Hasidic funerals have spread the virus - I'm not sure of that. |
