That'll be enough time for all the big, white-owned construction companies to set up minority owned fronts so that they can bid on the contracts specifically set aside for minority owned corporations. Just today, I saw an ad in the NY Post which said "Wanted: Black Men With Hammmers".Don't laugh. Consider the case of Liberman Broadcasting. It was a company owned by Jews of Polish origin that got a huge tax break when it bought a Los Angeles radio station a number of years ago by qualifying as a "minority owned" company. The family could trace itself back to ancestors who had been expelled from Spain in 1492, and therefore was entitled to be treated as Hispanic. My LIRR/NYCT blog |
