Worse mutations usually kill fewer people, because people infected with it transmit it to fewer others before they get sick and die. That's what made SARS fizzle out. It had something like a 60% death rate. And that's why there is no money in a SARS vaccine.In contrast, customers will pay hundreds of billions of dollars for a covid-19 vaccine. And it spreads so much more easily than SARS because you can spread it for days while not knowing you are sick. |
